The North-East of Cambodia is literally a feast for the senses; it is rich and diverse in culture, scenery and landscape. The roads and trails are perfect for exploring by motorcycle along the network of smooth, empty tarmac roads, hardpacked laterite roads through sweeping plains and dirt trails through rice fields and forests. The Dangrek Mountain Range dominates much of the northern landscape, and forms the border between Thailand and Cambodia. It is also home to the long-disputed Preah Vihear temple, and historic remnants of the Khmer Rouge. Every day offers something special and unique and we take time to meet the friendly locals and learn about their daily life, family, and customs.

Day 1 | Siem Reap – Siem Reap | 74.7km

Induction day Before we start exploring in earnest, we take a short ride to get to know the bike and the local roads and conditions. We explore some of the backroads in Siem Reap where there is a surprise around every corner. After a break and a chat at a quiet local picnic spot, we ride back to JRHQ to prep the bikes for our departure tomorrow and then head out for our welcome dinner.

Day 2 | Siem Reap – Sra Em | 210km

We depart early from JRHQ to beat the heat and the traffic, as the first part of the ride, this morning is on a sealed road, before branching off onto a rubber plantation road. We follow a series of regional roads and trails to get us to our scenic local lunch spot, stopping for photo ops, and local interaction along the way. We will pay a visit to Preah Vihear either this afternoon or tomorrow morning depending on weather and time. Preah Vihear is an 11th Century sprawling hilltop temple offering stunning views over Thailand and Cambodia. We overnight in Sra Em.

Day 3 | Sra Em – Preah Khan | 174km

After a nice breakfast at the hotel, we depart Sra Em on smooth, tarmac roads, through the northern plains and on to Preah Vihear City. We stop here to refresh and refuel before heading south. Some ragged red roads lead us to our destination where we will spend some time exploring jungle trails snaking around an ancient 11th Century temple. Overnight is with the Village chief and his family at their beautiful homestay.

Day 4 | Preah Khan – Siem Reap | 165km

After a local breakfast, we start early as we have some fun riding over rambling roads and trails ahead of us, with a few hidden surprises! We arrive in Siem Reap by early afternoon; freshen up and meet again for the Final dinner and farewell.

Inclusions

Arrival Transfer, 3 nights accommodation, experienced ride leader, support mechanic, reliable well maintained bikes + SHAD panniers, fuel, drinks on tour, meals (Bx2, Lx3, Dx3), tool-kit, first-aid kit. Support vehicle if over 4 riders.

 

Exclusions

Flights, Cambodian tourist ,visa personal riding gear (helmet, jacket, boots, gloves), personal insurance, alcoholic drinks, pre and post ride accommodation.

Important Items

The following items should be carried on your person at all times when on tour:

  • Passport with 2 spare passport photos
  • Motorcycle Drivers License and IDP
  • Personal Insurance Card
  • Credit Card or access to emergency funds
  • Medical Advice Card, if any
  • Personal Medication, if any
  • Daily Cash, allow $20usd per day for personal use, in small denominations.
  • Emergency Cash, $500usd

*USD currency must be in good condition, not ripped or torn or it my be rejected.

Personal Safety Gear

It can be hot and dusty, and Cambodia is notoriously tough on gear! The following items are essential for your personal safety and comfort:

  • Motorcycle Helmet DOT approved (full face recommended)
  • Sunglasses for eye protection (polarised recommended)
  • Clear/tinted glasses for low light conditions
  • Riding Jacket (textile, perforated leather, leather)
  • Riding Gloves
  • Long Pants or Riding pants
  • Leather Boots to cover your ankles
